Relative or Preset time queries are useful when you need to create a dashboard component with a time dimension relative to a fixed date. For example, if you wanted to create a dashboard view of anything that has been reported 'today' or 'year-to-date' then the Preset queries let you do that.

To achieve this, you need to filter your data by a date component which could either be the default, 'submitted at' field, which is the date on which your report was entered, or it could be a custom date question - 'the date of the last inspection, for example' - which could be used to filter the data.

The dashboard will auto-populate but requires refreshing to collect new data.

Otherwise, this feature is suitable for a 'daily' report, or a 'weekly' or 'monthly' view of data.
